Sheldon College launch their new alumni platform & plan alumni reunions!

Over 200 alumni have joined the new Sheldon College alumni community

Sheldon College, an independent day school located in Brisbane, Australia, recently launched their new alumni platform for their growing network of alumni. Founded in 1997, the school caters for children from 15 months to Year 12 and is recognised for outstanding achievements in the academic, sporting and cultural arenas. Their new platform will provide a dedicated space for their alumni network to connect, find career opportunities, keep up-to-date with school news, and give back to their school community in different ways.

Launching their new community

Over the last two years, Sheldon College has been developing their new alumni platform, powered by ToucanTech. They launched in February 2022, and have seen a flurry of registrations as alumni log-in to access features such as the business directory, jobs board, photo galleries and events. Their first email to share news of the site had an open rate of over 50%, with many alumni clicking through to register their profiles.

Planning alumni reunions

Though COVID has placed many alumni events on hold for the last two years, it’s exciting to see alumni reunions planned in 2022 which offers the chance to reconnect in-person and strengthen and grow relationships between alumni and Sheldon College. They are planning to host a 1 year, 10 year and 15 year reunion for classes, and alumni are invited to catch up with their favourite teachers and Sheldon staff for an evening of anecdotes, photos and laughs.

Listening to feedback from alumni

Following a recent alumni event, Sheldon College shared a survey with attendees on their events, to learn how they could encourage more alumni to join and re-engage with the school through events. Gathering feedback from alumni is another great way to engage with them, and ensure that their views are heard.

This is an exciting step for a growing alumni network that we’re sure will be keen to support one another and the school in future activities. We’re looking forward to seeing their online community come to life and engage alumni for many years to come!
