With alumnae support, Roedean School reaches their fundraising target

The Roedean Community keeps alumnae connected & provides a reason to give back

The Roedean Community is the alumnae and school network of Roedean School, an independent girls’ school located in Brighton, UK. Their online community enables people to find friends and colleagues, with over 3000 visits to their site each month. Nearly 1,000 members of their community are signed up to the site, where they can read news articles, sign up to events, connect with others on the platform and much more.

Reaching their fundraising target for the new performing arts centre

Roedean School are currently fundraising for their theatre redevelopment, and have raised a fantastic £17,000 in donations over the last month, with many online payments. This takes them to 99% of their fundraising goal of £75,000, which donors can view with the progress bar or fundraising countdown on their fundraising page. Their campaign page includes a target panel to show how they are progressing, plus compelling videos from their Headmaster, staff and students. They have also shared how each donation amount will be thanked through their levels of 'Act I, II & III', with options to directly fund a piece of equipment and naming opportunities.

Running a successful online shop

There are a range of items available for purchase on the Roedean Community shop, including Christmas cards and bespoke illustrations of the school available as a print, greetings card or tea towel. To celebrate their acclaimed alumnae, a new book is available for purchase which is a compilation of biographies and photographs of 100 of their most notable Old Roedeanians, with entries researched and written by the girls. The profits of these sales will go towards supporting the Secret Garden Library at St Mark’s Primary School.

Keeping up-to-date with all aspects of Roedean life

Regular news articles published on the Roedean Community site means alumnae are never out of the loop; each week the Head shares a weekly review from the school, covering school trips, upcoming events, and celebrating unsung heroes. These reviews are produced as an interactive flipbook filled with photos which readers can flick through on the website. Alumnae can also read interviews and news from their peers, with their popular format of ‘10 questions with...’. Alumnae are also encouraged to submit their own articles, or to nominate an Old Roedeanian to feature in the ‘10 questions with...’ series.

Sharing new publications with a virtual bookshop

A lovely way to share the news of publications authored by Roedean alumnae is through their ‘Virtual Bookshop’, which is posted on their news page. Authors can submit a short article detailing their upcoming release, often sharing their journey to becoming an author and their experience of writing the book. It’s a brilliant way to support these authors and showcase the talent of their alumnae community.

From supporting alumnae and keeping the ORs connected, to giving people a reason to give back, Roedean are running several brilliant initiatives that ensure that the Roedean Community keeps on thriving.
